SMILEY SATURDAY

When we returned by train from Cologne to Brussels, where we had visited the Christmas market, there were quite a lot of people who had the same idea as us and the train was nearly full.

Just right besides us on the other side of the alley sat a man in his 40th with a computer and a couple of Newspapers, the perfect business man. At one moment he had to stand up to look in luggage over him. Then he sat down again.

My friend Ilona had noticed that something had dropped out of his pocket and lay on the floor. She kicked me in my side laughed and said l: "I bed these are condoms". I had a closer look, but even with my glasses I couldn't see it properly.

In this moment the guy who just sat before us turned around and said : "Do you believe what I believe "? We both laughed and said, yes it can only be that. I told Ilona to pick it up and to give it to the black suited posh looking business man, as she sat just besides the ally. At first she didn't want to, but then finally picked up the box, shaked a little his arm and showed him the box. "I think it's yours" she said. Instead of being embarassed or ashamed, he made a big smile from one ear to the other and said : "Oh thank you, good that you found them" ! And when the train arrived in Brussels, he made us a little sign : "have fun too" !

We both noticed that a lot has changed ever since !

On Tuesday my friend Ilona and I took the train from Brussels to Cologne (Germany) to visit the Christmas Market and the shops of course.

The Market was all around the Dom and very easy to find, just in front of the station ! I will write about the Market on Sunday.

Today I only show you what I bought. The first thing Ilona and I noticed was that there were very few Santa ornaments but at lot of angels, actually you almost saw only angels and of course the traditional balls. For me it was the paradise as I wanted to buy some more angels after a period of buying Santas and in Belgium there are more Santas than angels !

but first I found this cute cat, which hangs on my bookshelf now

together with these two

This funny one I hang in our Christmas tree

and these serve as earrings for my cats standing on my desk

I also found angels sitting on white clouds !

And then I found something VERY special, a cat as a book sign !! Of course I couldn't resist and add it to my cat collection ! Isn't that cute ?

I also needed some more keyhanger, although I doubt we have enough keys for using them

I also bought this little couple

and another angel who should keep me smiling the whole day !

On the way to Cologne

This morning my friend Ilona and I take the high speed train Thalys to Cologne (Germany) which runs up to 300 km/h (190 mph). It only takes us 3 h instead of the 4 1/2 with a normal train. We want to visit the Christmas market (Weihnachtsmarkt) and at the same time the famous "Kölner Dom" the Cathedral.
Please go here to my photoblog to see "My world" which today is about the big Christmas market in Brussels.

FUN MONDAY - Not so funny

Odd Shots and Macro Monday are here

Mommy Wizdom is our host this week and you will find more participants at her blog.

The assignment this monday is : Your job this week is to go out and perform a random act of kindness. This act may be for someone you know or for a perfect stranger. It can be big or small, it'll all up to you. Obviously, it should be something within your means.
or
If you've had a random act of kindness bestowed on you (recently), we'd love to hear about it. How did it impact you? How did it make you feel?

It's quite difficult to talk about an act of kindness I did myself, because when I am kind, I find it normal and not something to shout out into the whole world. But I remember one act of kindness because it made me so furious that I would never forget ! This happened in February this year when it was very cold.

Since the ancient communistic countries opened there borders, we have an invasion of them coming here for work or for mafioso purposes. There is a rumanian "Mafia" who are coming with young women with babies or toddlers and sent them out for begging. It's always the same. A full of golden chaines decorated "pimp" appears in a black van with at least 8 or 10 women in it and leaves them out in front of supermarkets or shopping malls. There they have to stay the whole day until he comes and picks them up again. The police can't do anything usually they have tourist visas and they go away of course if they see them.

So one day I saw a young woman holding an about one year old baby in her arms asking for money. I noticed with horror, that the poor child had no socks and shoes and it was so cold !
I tried to figure out the size of the feet, stormed in the shop and bought warm little socks and padded warm little slippers. I ran out again and gave both things to the young woman. She looked very surprised, happy but full of fear at the same time. I stayed with her and helped to put on the socks and the shoes, while she was looking anxiously around. I hoped the pimp would show up to jump at his throat and strangle him, but nobody was in view. She thanked me with a smile and I went away. But I turned around to look at them a little later and I saw a young man, probably her husband who looked at the socks and the shoes and also seemed quite happy. The only one who was probably more than furious was the "pimp" who wanted money and no baby shoes !

I never give money, I buy food if there is written "I am hungry".

This is a picture I took today with a zoom, hidden behind a car. Another poor victim. The worst thing is, these women don't dare to do anything against these men ! They behave like beaten women.

WEEKLY WINNERS - X-Mas in Waterloo

More participants here at Sarcastic Mom Weekly winners

I went to the Waterloo Lion, where Napoleon had lost his battle, just to check if he had at least a Christmas tree. But he had not, but still some very couragious tourists who had climbed up the 253 steps to say him hello !

but just in front of the wax museum there was at least a tree !

Completely different it was in Waterloo's most "posh" and very elegant galery ! To shop there you need a well filled up bank account.

some cute decorations of two different men boutiques

and this hang in the middle of the galery on top of the glass ceiling
